Warm week ahead in Kolkata, predicts Met

The met office predicts a rise in mercury and a "relatively warm period" until January 27, while the minimum temperature could touch 19 degrees Celsius. The rise in temperature has been triggered by a western disturbance in northwest India that has cut off the northwesterly wind. Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 169 degrees Celsius on Monday which was three notches above the normal mark. "With the chillcarrying northwesterly cut off the mercury will now rise temperature during the day could touch 30 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and will continue to hover around that mark till at least January 27," said Regional Meteorological Centre Director G.K. Dasa.
