The Guwahati Assam government is launching a Jalotsav to assess the quality and functionality status of piped water supply to every household in the state. Jalotsav is a government-sponsored program to assess the quality and functionality of water supply in a state. The program was launched in Assam in 2019. The goal of Jalotsav is to ensure that every household in Assam has access to piped water. In 2018, only 42 households in the most populous northeastern state had access to tap water under the center's scheme for drinking water, Jal Jeevan Mission. However, by 2019, 2827 households in Assam had access to piped water. This is a major success since the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019. Next year, the goal is to assess the quality of water and functionality through Jalotsav.
