Security beefed up in upper Assam after Ulfa-I boycott call

The Dibrugarh district of Assam is protesting against Republic Day celebrations because the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) is calling for a boycott. The ULFA is a banned organization in Assam, so the district is afraid that the ULFA will try to strike during the celebrations. The district superintendent of police has said that they will be increasing security measures in the districts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, and Charaideo, which are all areas that the ULFA has traditionally been strong in.
