R-Day: 4,000 cops to keep vigil on Kolkata

The city of Kolkata will be wrapped in a security blanket in preparation for Republic Day celebrations this Thursday. The city police have prepared a specific security blueprint, focusing especially on Red Road where the main function will be held. Ten watch towers and 10 sand bunkers have been put up, while 13 qrts and 51 pcrs will be deployed. Three qrts will be deployed at Red Road itself, and around 1000 personnel will be present on Red Road, 40 special teams in the form of quick reactions teams, hrfs rfs and pcrs will be present, and 3000 cops will patrol central Kolkata and the city's entry/exit point. Each guest house is being checked, and the city's heart will witness drone vigilance from January 25th itself. Cisf officials in charge of airport security and officers of Bidhannagar City Police have been moving around areas like Kaikhali, Dum Dum, Michael Nagar, Rajarhat, and Narayanpur with loud hailers and multiple police vans to sensitize residents. Security awareness pamphlets containing contact numbers of Cisf control room and local police stations were also distributed among local residents, and they were sensitised to remain security aware and to alert Cisf or local police about suspicious objects lying
