Police bust SIM racket in Kolkata, arrest 7

A group of police officers in Kolkata busted a sim card racket and arrested five people between Monday and Tuesday. Two other people were arrested last Friday, taking the total number of arrests to seven. The gang is reportedly involved in illegal financial operations across the city and in the north 24 parganas district. Three of the accused- Dipak Sikdar, Laxmi Kanta Shee, and Shambu Das- were arrested for reportedly lending their accounts to fraudsters. Four others- Jagdish Sardar, Sayantan Das, Ratul Biswas, and Priyabrata Mukherjee- are allegedly involved in planning and executing the fraud. The victim, a posta businessman, has so far not been able to identify any of the accused. However, the police are convinced that insiders are involved in the scheme, and they are fixing up the role of each accused.
