New Assam DGP Singh stresses on forensics

The new dgp of Assam, GP Singh, said that there is tremendous scope for improvement in probes, especially with reference to forensic support. He said that district courts have convicted someone and the honourable Gauhati High Court has acquitted them for some other reason, and it is unfair to say that the police investigations were completely ineffectual. He added that for the improvement in investigations, we have had multiple discussions with the state government, the chief minister has also personally taken an interest in it, and consultants have been appointed renowned former IPS officers with expertise in the field of forensics. He said that the Assam Police are preparing a blueprint and architecture for the growth of forensics in Assam, and he is hopeful that over the period of next few years, with the support of the government and an improvement in forensics infrastructure, we would be in a position to file better charge sheets and to fight out through prosecution in a much better way.
