Congress leaders in Madhya Pradesh are at odds over the selection of Kamal Nath as the state unit president ahead of state assembly elections scheduled for the end of the year. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Govind Singh argued that it is not the Congress party’s tradition to announce a chief ministerial face in advance. However, MLA Sajjan Singh Verma, who is loyal to Nath, said that all 22 leaders at a recent meeting had accepted Nath as their leader and that Singh should behave in a manner he expects others to behave towards him.
