In Kolkata, the home and offices of Trinamool's Jakir Hossain in Murshidabad were searched for nearly eight hours by a team from the Indian Tax Department. The search was reportedly not limited to the TMC leader's linked bidi brand, other bidi brands such as Ananda Bidi and Bijli Bidi, or the Shib Bidi factories themselves. Rs 8 crore in unaccounted cash was seized from the factories alone. In the last several years, no less than 20 political parties have left the BJPL alliance, and now the Central Agencies are the BJP's only political allies. These agencies are being repeatedly used to politically target the opposition for political vendetta.
