A trader from Sarsuna in Behala lost around Rs.3 lakh from his account after his debit card got stuck inside an ATM machine. The incident was reported last Saturday. The police have registered a case and asked the private bank whose ATM the victim Debabrata Haldar Maity was using to produce CCTV footage of the ATM Lalbazar's Antibank Fraud Section is providing the technical expertise in the case. According to the police, Maity had gone to a private bank ATM at Behala Bakultala to withdraw money for his daughter's birthday, and the card got stuck in the ATM. "When all my efforts to retrieve the card failed, I began to get messages of the money being debited. The first one saw Rs.10,000 being debited," said Maity. By the time he could instruct the bank to block his account, Rs.29 lakh went missing.
