BJP, Trinamool spar over Ram Navami violence

Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of opposition in the West Bengal assembly, has filed a public interest litigation at the Calcutta High Court in regard to the various acts of violence and alleged attacks during a Ram Navami procession, which has exposed an ongoing conflict between the BJP and ruling party Trinamool. Adhikari wants an investigation by the National Investigation Agency, immediate deployment of central forces to problem areas in Howrah, and the restoration of law and order. Trinamool leaders claim there is a deliberate attempt to divide Hindus and Muslims in the state in the lead up to elections.
